Consumer and Family Support Specialists

Support for local mental health service consumers and family members is available through Clark RSN's Consumer and Family Support Specialists.  Specialists provide information to consumers, families, and cross-system partners; training on mental health recovery principles and practices; and consumer and family voice that informs mental health related processes, policies, and programs.  The Consumer and Family Support Specialists help keep the community informed of upcoming trainings, events, and workshops and also coordinate the Peer Support efforts in Clark County.

Consumer Voices Are Born (CVAB)

CVAB is a consumer-run organization providing support and advocacy for fellow consumers of mental health services. The purpose of CVAB is to help develop and enhance self-help, support groups, self-advocacy, empowerment and advocacy for the mentally ill. CVAB operates the consumer-run Drop-in Center and the Warm Line.

For more information about CVAB, please contact:

Val Ogden Center (Clark County Clubhouse)
10205 NE Fourth Plain Blvd, Vancouver, Washington 98662
Phone: (360) (253) 4036

The Val Ogden Center is not a clinical mental health program. Instead, it is a clubhouse "owned" by all of the clubhouse members and staff who are building and contributing to the program. One of the main objectives of the Clubhouse model is to help those with mental illness return to the working community. All members and staff work side-by-side to perform the work necessary to operate the Clubhouse on a daily basis. Members see that their talents and abilities make a tangible, positive impact on the Clubhouse environment. Because people work closely together as a team, a very supportive community is formed.
