MISSION

Mental Health Action is organized exclusively for one or more of the purposes as specified in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, including for such purpose, to be an education and advocacy organization whose goals include being a change agent regarding Policy and Plan development that affect mental health services, supporting individuals with mental health challenges (consumers) thus promoting hope, recovery and resiliency among individuals with mental health challenges, and to promote individuals to become empowered.

Mental Health Action will collaborate with faith-based organizations, county and state agency staff and service providers to promote person-centered care, assist youth in transition, adults and older adults and providers with building community-based resources; and provide consultation, education and training for community groups.

Mental Health Action has four major purposes with accompanying activities in order to reach its goals of education, advocacy, becoming a change agent in policy and plan development, and assist consumers with mental health challenges to become empowered.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSES

The corporation is organized and at all times shall be operated for charitable and educational purposes.

In order for Mental Health Action to meet its goal of empowering individuals with mental health challenges and to inform and educate, the organization will institute the following objectives:

  1. To ensure that youth in transition, adults and older adults at risk who are seeking supports through Mental Health Action have adequate information that enables them to access the services provided by current systems of care either in the private or public sectors; and
  2. To establish a Mental Health Advocacy Project that will provide advocacy strategies to promote a Mental Health system of care that meets the needs of youth in transition, adults and older adults; and
  3. To provide information to youth in transition, adults and older adults to understand their role as change agents, and how to direct policies and plans to improve their lives and mental health services; and
  4. To inform and educate youth in transition, adults and older adults, educators, researchers, systems of care providers, county and state policymakers about at risk issues that affect communities and citizens.
